Microwave Chocolate Cake for One
You can use any microwave safe mug for this. I prefer a larger mug (coffee-house style) because it is easier to mix the ingredients.
4 tbsp cake flour
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
pinch salt
1 large egg
3 tbsp strong coffee
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Sift together flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder and salt into a large coffee mug (or small bowl). Stir in egg, coffee, vegetable oil and vanilla, mixing until smooth. If you are mixing inside a coffee mug, be sure to scrape the corners well.
Microwave on high for about 3 minutes. Cake will puff up like a souffle and should appear to be “set” after 3 minutes. Cake will fall once removed from the microwave.
Serve in the mug, or turned out into a bowl, with a bit of ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a sauce pan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add white sugar, brown sugar and water; bring to a boil. Reduce temperature, and simmer 5 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
  3. Bake 15 minutes at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes.

The just released PwnageTool 4.3 can jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad (1st-gen), iPod touch 4G/3G, Apple TV, and at the same time will help retain the old baseband for iPhone 4 and 3GS users so that they can unlock using the existing version of Ultrasn0w.
If your iPhone doesn’t rely on a carrier unlock, you can use Redsn0w for both Windows and Mac to easily jailbreak your device on iOS 4.3.1. Complete step by step instructions can befound here.
Unlike the last release, this version of PwnageTool brings full untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak for all devices except for the iPad 2. This untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 is based on an exploit found by iPhone security expert and hacker Stefan Esser, who demoed it on his iPod touch last week before handing it over to the Dev-Team to do the rest.
iOS 4.3.1 was originally jailbroken last week using PwnageTool bundles (on Mac) andSn0wbreeze (on Windows) but it was limited to tethered boot.
NOTE: If you are a Windows user, follow our complete step by step tutorial posted here to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 (untethered) on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad, iPod touch using Sn0wbreeze 2.5.
Step 1Download PwnageTool 4.3 for Mac.
Step 2: Download iOS 4.3.1 firmware. Move all these files to the desktop.
Step 3: Start PwnageTool in “Expert mode” and select your device:

Step 4: Browse for iOS 4.3.1 firmware for your device as shown in the screenshot below:

Step 5: Now select “Build” to start creating custom 4.3.1 firmware file:

Step 6: PwnageTool will now create the custom .ipsw file for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch which will be jailbroken.

Step 7: Now follow the following steps to enter DFU mode using PwnageTool:
  • Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds
  • Now release the Power button but continue holding the Home button for 10 more seconds
  • You device should now be in DFU mode

Step 8: Start iTunes, click on your iOS device icon from the sidebar in iTunes. Now press and hold left “alt” (option) button on Mac, or Left “Shift” button if you are on Windows on thekeyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update” or “Check for Update”) button in the iTunes and then release this button.

This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your custom firmware 4.3.1 file. Select the required custom .ipsw file that you created above, and click on “Open”.
Step 9: Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you. This will involve a series of automated steps. Be patient at this stage and don’t do anything silly. Just wait while iTunes installs the new firmware 4.3.1 on your iOS device. Your iOS device screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress. After the installation is done, your iOS device will be jailbroken on iOS 4.3.1.
How-To Unlock iOS 4.3.1:
Ultrasn0w 1.2 is broken on iOS 4.3.1. Wait for the Dev-Team to push new version of Ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone (compatible basebands: 01.59.00 / 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00).

Mozzarella, Ham, and Basil Panini

Ingredients
  • (16-ounce) loaf ciabatta, cut in half horizontally
  • 4 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 4 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 1/3 cups (8 ounces) thinly sliced fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 12 basil leaves
  • 8 ounces sliced 33%-less-sodium cooked deli ham (such as Boar's Head)
  • sweetened hot cherry peppers, sliced
  • large plum tomato, thinly sliced
  • Cooking spray
Preparation
  • 1. Brush cut side of the bottom bread half with mustard; brush cut side of top half with vinegar. Top bottom half with mozzarella, basil, ham, peppers, and tomato. Top with remaining bread half.
  • 2. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add sandwich to pan; top with another heavy skillet. Cook 3 minutes on each side or until golden. Cut sandwich into 6 wedges

Ingredients
  • Basic Pizza Dough
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 cup fat-free bottled pizza sauce
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup (2 ounces) grated fresh Parmesan cheese
Preparation
  • Position one oven rack in the middle setting. Position another rack in the lowest setting, and place a rimless baking sheet on the bottom rack. Preheat oven to 500°.
  • Remove plastic wrap from Basic Pizza Dough; discard plastic. Brush olive oil over dough. Remove preheated baking sheet from oven, and close oven door. Slide dough onto preheated baking sheet, using a spatula as a guide. Bake on lowest oven rack at 500° for 8 minutes. Remove from oven.
  • Spread sauce in an even layer over crust, leaving a 1/4-inch border. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Bake on middle rack an additional 10 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese melts. Cut into 12 wedges.

Ingredients
  • 5   large shallots, peeled and halved
  • 3 teaspoons  extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 tablespoon  coarsely chopped fresh thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon  kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon  freshly ground pepper
  • 4   4-ounce filet mignon or sirloin steaks, 1 1/4 inches thick, trimmed
  • 3/4 cup  Madeira, (see Note)
  • 1 14-ounce can  reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon  butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon  all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon  tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup  pitted prunes, coarsely chopped

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
2. Toss shallots with 1 teaspoon oil in a small baking pan. Roast until beginning to brown, about 25 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, combine thyme, salt and pepper in a small bowl; rub the mixture all over steaks. Heat the remaining 2 teaspoons oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steaks and cook, adjusting the heat as necessary to prevent burning, 4 to 6 minutes per side for medium-rare. Transfer to a plate; tent with foil to keep warm.
4. Add Madeira to the pan and cook for 1 minute. Add broth and bring to a boil; continue cooking until the liquid is reduced by about half, 10 to 12 minutes.
5. Combine butter and flour in a small bowl. Stir tomato paste into the pan until dissolved, then add the butter-flour paste in small bits, breaking up any lumps with a wooden spoon, until it's dissolved. Add prunes and continue cooking until the sauce has thickened, about 3 minutes more. Add the roasted shallots and steaks to the pan along with any accumulated juices. Turn to coat and cook until heated through, 1 to 2 minutes. Serve the steaks with the pan sauce.
Tip:
Note: Madeira, a fortified wine from the Portuguese island of Madeira, has a sweet, mellow flavor somewhat like sherry. Find it at liquor stores or in the wine section of the supermarket.

  1. Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5.
  2. Parboil the potatoes in salted water for 7-8 minutes until almost cooked (they will still feel firm when pierced with a knife). Drain thoroughly using a colander, then shake the potatoes around a little in the colander until the outsides are roughened.
  3. Put the duck fat for the roast potatoes into a small roasting tin and heat in the oven for five minutes.
  4. Add the drained, roughened potatoes to the tin of hot duck fat, then sprinkle over the garlic cloves, thyme and sea salt and mix until the potatoes are well coated in the fat.
  5. Return the tin to the oven and roast for 45-60 minutes, or until golden and crunchy.
